Welcome to our Microsoft Power Automate tutorial series! In this blog, we will show you how to auto-follow up on any message in Teams using a pre-built template provided by Power Automate. Although we won't be creating the flow ourselves, following this tutorial will teach you how to work with templates and quickly get a flow up and running. So, let's get started!

Step 1: Go to Power Automate

Navigate Power Automate (previously known as Microsoft Flow) in your web browser to access the automation platform.

Step 2: Explore Templates

Once you are on the Power Automate website, look for the "Templates" tab or section in the left-hand side panel. Templates offer pre-built workflows that you can use as starting points for your automation needs.

Step 3: Find our Template

Find "Follow up on a message" in the templates section, and search for the template named "Follow up on a message." This template is designed specifically for following up on messages in Teams, which will save you time and effort in manually tracking conversations. Select this and enable it.

Step 4: Test the template

Firstly press the "Flow Checker" button in the top right-hand corner of the screen. You should get a 'SUCCESS' message. Then, send a message to one of your team members in Microsoft Teams. This will serve as the trigger for the follow-up flow.

Step 5: Trigger the flow

After sending the message, locate the overflow menu (three vertical ellipses) in the top right corner of the chat bubble which you just sent. Once you've found it, click on it to reveal a dialogue box which enables you to configure the date and time of the follow-up. Complete the form in that box and then we're all done!

Congratulations! You have successfully used a pre-built template to automate the follow-up process on any message in Teams. The template serves as a fantastic starting point for more complex automation workflows. As we progress in this tutorial series, future blogs will explore easier examples and guide you through the process of building them step by step, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of Power Automate's capabilities.

Stay tuned for more exciting tutorials!
